Racine - George Arthur Prins, 102, passed away on April 13, 2025.
Born on December 24, 1922, in Racine, Wisconsin, George was the son of Johannes "Hans" Lambertus Alberts Prins and Lilly Eleanor Prins (née Wheeler). On September 16, 1950, he married Irene Pauline Yager.
George was one of the 5 founding members of the Hoy Nature Club. The 5 founding members were Wally Nelson, Edward Prins, George Prins, Dr. Bruno Vonjarow and Hans Zell. Edward, George's older brother, organized the group in Spring 1939. The group still exists today in Racine as the Hoy Audubon Nature Society.
George served in WW2 in the Air Force. He and Ed worked at the Milwaukee Museum following the war. He retired from Western Publishing after a long career in the Chemical Lab. He was a long-time member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church.
George enjoyed gardening, fishing, birdwatching, carving, and painting. He spent all his time with his family. We spend many Sundays visiting Irene's Yager sisters and their families.
George is survived by his son David, his wife Gennie (nee Klein) and their two grandchildren, Stefan and Vandana.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Irene and his two brothers Edward and Harry.
A private celebration of George’s life will be held. Memorial donations in honor of George may be made to the Hoy Audubon Nature Society at https://hoyaudubon.org/
