Gene Albert Radtke's Obituary
Sturtevant-Gene Albert Radtke, 85, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Gene was born to the late Harold and Marcella (nee Zettler) Radtke on September 23, 1937, in Marathon County, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Louise Becker on April 23, 1960, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. They were married for 61 years until Louise’s passing in December of 2021.
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955-1963. He worked at American Motors/Chrysler for 30 years and retired from the company on January 30, 1990. During retirement, Gene worked at Builder’s Square and Home Depot. He was well versed in different skills such as woodworking, carpentry, and electrical work. Gene enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, having cookouts, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Gene will be deeply missed by his loving children: Keith Radtke, Stuart Radtke, and Jana (Remzy) Bitar; grandchildren: Jason (Nicole), Bill, Sarah, Jonathan, Cassandra (Cory), Jordan, and Kaden; six great grandchildren; brothers: Allen Radke and Albert (Mary) Radke; along with many other relatives and friends.
Gene is predeceased by his wife, Louise; sister, Bernadine; and brothers: Merlin, Kenneth, and Dennis.
A time of visitation for Gene will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with a celebration of life service following at 12:00 P.M. A committal service with full military honors will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. Memorials in Gene’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society (100 Tri-State Dr, Lincolnshire, IL 60069).
