Frederick Charles Von Gonten Jr.'s Obituary
Frederick Charles Von Gonten, Jr., age 97, passed on April 11, 2017 at Ridgewood Care Center, Mt. Pleasant, WI.
On January 10, 1920, Frederick was born in Racine, WI to Frederick and Rose (nee Ahrens). He was united in marriage to Helen Hazen on June 28, 1941 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Racine. When Helen preceded him in death on January 20, 2016, they had been married for 74 years. Frederick was employed as a machinist at Jacobsen Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring on July 1, 1985.
Frederick was a lifelong member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and volunteered at St. Luke’s Auxiliary for 20 years. In his spare time, Frederick enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and bingo, and collecting and refinishing antiques.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Deborah (Michael) Burdick of Racine and Lisa (Jesus) Vazquez of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Frederick was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his brothers, Leonard and Gordon Von Gonten; and his sisters: Delores and Marjorie Von Gonten.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Mark Doidge and Pastor Laura Fladten officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Holy Communion Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
