Floyd Julius Spath's Obituary
RACINE —Floyd Julius Spath, 85, passed away on Sunday August 24, 2014 at Ridgewood Care Center.
He was born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin to Gustuv and Nora (Flint) Spath on April 17, 1929.
During his two years of service in the Marine Corps, Floyd was united in marriage to Carol Hansen on June 17, 1949 at Cherry Point Marine Corps Station in North Carolina.  Having been honorably discharged , Floyd and Carol moved back to Wisconsin where he worked for American Motors for 33 years.
Floyd was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, having served in the prison ministry for many years.  He was also a member of the choir.  Floyd loved nature, spending much of his time in the garden.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and building scrap metal airplanes.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Cindy (George)Reid of North Carolina; son Dana (Sharon) Spath; sister, Mary Ehleiter; brother, Robert (Erna) Spath; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents Gustuv and Nora Spath; sister, Beverly (Clifford) Pischke; and brother-in-law Dean Ehleiter.
A memorial service for Floyd will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3319 Washington Ave. Racine  at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2014.  Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of service.  Pastor Jane Fryda will officiate.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at Ridgewood Care Center for their excellent service and care.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
