Floyd "Jim" Lucas' Obituary
Mount Pleasant - Floyd "Jim" Lucas, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Boland Hall in Union Grove.
Jim was born on June 21, 1944, in Racine, to the late Floyd and Evelyn (née Sorensen) Lucas. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheri DeMars, on November 16, 1985, in Racine.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of employment as a flat cutter operator at Western Publishing before his retirement.
Later in life, Jim fulfilled a lifelong dream when he purchased his first Harley-Davidson motorcycle in his 50s. He found great joy on the open road and cherished every opportunity to ride. An avid outdoorsman, Jim had a deep appreciation for nature and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. As a hunter education instructor, he took pride in teaching others the importance of safe and ethical hunting practices, helping pass his knowledge on to future generations.
Jim was honored to participate in the Honor Flight, an experience he treasured as a proud veteran. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cribbage and Scrabble, and in his later years, looked forward to lively games of bingo at the Wisconsin Veterans Home.
Above all else, Jim's greatest joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the love he shared with them will remain a lasting legacy.
Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Cheri Lucas; his children, Troy (Jennifer) Lucas, Lori (Don) Stone, Kelli (Brian) Fetzer, Larry Sajdik, and Jim (Alexis) Lucas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Dallas Miilu; his grandson, Cody Sajdik; and his sisters, Kathleen, Patricia, and Mary.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home for visitation on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
