Floyd Donald Schmidt's Obituary
Racine- Mr. Floyd D. Schmidt, 81, passed away on Thursday, May, 23, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare- All Saints.
Floyd was born in Racine on June 6, 1931 to the late Richard and Alta (nee: Blakeslee). In 1977, he was united in marriage to Janice (nee: Rundle) at Taylor Ave. Church of the Nazarene.
Floyd proudly served his country from 1948-1952 as a member of the Army Armor Division in Germany. After the war, Floyd was employed in construction and owned Schmidt Remodeling until his retirement in 1996.
Floyd faithfully attended Taylor Ave. Church of the Nazarene for over 35 years. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his home, where he built many beautiful pieces of furniture. His talents for carpentry not only extended to his home, but to the church as well, where he helped repair many things and also built the altar. He will best be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, who would help anyone in need.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Janice Schmidt; daughter, Debbie Schmidt; granddaughter, Shannon (Bently) Early; two great-grandsons, Cohen and Brock; brother, Richard (Elizabeth) Schmidt; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Robert (Eloise), Frank (Doris), and Wendell Schmidt.
Funeral services in honor of Floyd will be held at Taylor Ave. Church of the Nazarene (2100 Taylor Ave.) on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 7:00pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at church on Tuesday from 5:00pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00am. (Please meet at entrance).
