Florine Leona Bearden's Obituary
Racine - Florine Leona Bearden, age 89, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Ascension All Saints.
Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on October 9, 1935, Florine was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary (née Kimberlin) Siverly. She made Racine her home, and on April 3, 1976, she was united in marriage to John Bearden, with whom she shared many cherished years.
Florine dedicated several years of her life working as a nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Racine. She loved playing cards, bingo, and gambling. She also enjoyed shopping trips, watching her favorite soap operas, and sipping on her A&W Root Beer. A lifelong dog lover, she especially adored collies and her daughter’s dog, Chloe.
Florine had a special gift for bringing people together. She built lasting connections with everyone she met and took great pride in keeping her family close-knit and united. She was the heart and soul of her family. To her children and those who knew her best, she truly was the world’s greatest mom — the steady, loving force that made their family whole.
Florine will be deeply missed by her children: Danny (Heather) Summerford and Mary Bearden (fiancé, Jeremy Hysell); her grandchildren: Jill Overstreet, MaKayla Harrell, Savanna Summerford, Ashley Summerford, Aaron Summerford, Jeremy Summerford, and Dawn Summerford; her many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; and her special niece, Marylynn Dudeck.
Florine was preceded in death by her husband, John Bearden; her children: David Summerford, Debbie Summerford, and Dale Summerford; her grandchildren: Austin Snedeker, Heidi Overstreet, and Starla Overstreet; and her siblings: Martha "Ilene," Nellie Mae, Ralph, and Carl Ray.
A celebration of Florine’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 12:30 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment with committal services will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in Racine.
