Evelyn Viola Thomas' Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn Viola Thomas departed this life on Sunday, April 17, 2016 to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Evelyn was born on July 13, 1921 to the late Fred and Viola Lindeman in Caledonia and was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a hard worker and served her country as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. She enjoyed playing cards, Brewer’s games, and travel to places far and wide.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Jill Nisbet of West Allis; son, Scott (Janeice) George of Kingsport, TN; step-daughter, Gail (Harlan) Kegler; grandchildren, Tammy Nisbet, Lucy George, Tiffany Pickering (Jonathan), Kim Lester (Josh), Wyatt George, Craig Payne (Cherie), and Brian Shawn (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Bella Pickering, Kaylee Pickering, Amelia Shawn, Joel Payne, Devin Lester, Brody Lester, and Finnegan Lester; two sisters, Ruth Vierk and Iola (Howard) Hanson; two brothers, George Lindeman (Sue) and Ray Lindeman (Loretta); a special friend, Jenni Sailor; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ned George; her second husband, Allen Thomas; a sister, Blanche Lindeman and a brother, Fred “Fritz” Lindeman, Jr.; a step-daughter, Jan Hawes; a grandson, Casey Payne and a great granddaughter, Jada Pickering.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church followed by a funeral service with Pastor Emile Burgess presiding. Interment alongside her husband will follow the service at Caledonia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7900 Nicholson Road, Caledonia, WI 53108.
