Evelyn "Evie" Braatz's Obituary
Evelyn was born on November 28, 1921 in Racine, to Bartol Peter Petak and Ethel (nee: Rost) Petak.
Evie was united in marriage to Walter A. Braatz on May 29, 1948 at Grace Lutheran Church in Racine. Walter preceded her in death on June 6, 2012. Evie had a very strong work ethic. She worked for Hamilton Beach in the office for many years. She also worked in several different areas at West Lawn Memorial Park. In addition, she enjoyed working beside her husband at the Seven Mile Fair. She was a member of the Racine/Kenosha Beekeepers, a member of an organist club and a member of Grace Lutheran church.
Evie is survived by her brother, Bob Petak, her sister, Elaine (Erv) Bullette, Sisters-in-law; Fritzie Braatz, Martha Schaub, Dorcas Hammer, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, especially Barbara and George Godlewski and Gary and Mary Buchholz.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bartol and Ethel Petak, her husband, Walter A. Braatz, one brother, Lawrence (Bessy) Petak, sister-in-law, Ginny Petak, brothers-in-law, John and Erv, sister-in-law, Irene, brothers-in-law, Frank Hammer and Bernie Schaub and her sister-in-law, Marcia Fuller.
There will be a funeral service for Evelyn on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Reverend Randall Poppe will officiate.
There will be a private interment at West Lawn Memorial Park on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Memorials may be directed to St. Monica’s Senior Living Center Activities, which Evie enjoyed.
