Eugene Earl Schmierer's Obituary
RACINE -- Eugene “Gene” Earl Schmierer, 82, passed away on Monday. July 13, 2015 at his residence.
Gene was born in Napolean, ND on May 25, 1933 to the late Frederick and Ottilia (Krinzle) Schmierer. He lived in Minnetonka, MN until his retirement in 2001, after which he moved to Racine. Gene served his country by serving in the United States Army.
Gene worked as a carpenter at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, MN. His passion for woodworking kept him busy doing projects for others. He had great pride in a job well done, often stating “Anyone can be a carpenter, but it takes someone special to be a finisher.” Gene was a life-long avid bowler and enjoyed golf. He was a supportive father and always had time for his son. He coached his son’s hockey team, helped him practice for baseball, and worked with the Boy Scouts. It was very important for Gene to teach responsibility in all areas of life.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Brad (Kim) Schmierer of Rogers, MN; his granddaughter, Laura also of Rogers, MN; his brothers Marvin (Germaine) Schmierer of Racine, Jevon (Bonnie Woolhouse) Schmierer of St. Louis Park, MN; his sister, Donna (George) Brown of California; and several nieces and nephews.
