Eugene "Geno" Donald Aul's Obituary
Eugene Donald Aul, age 87, went to heaven on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Hospital.
Geno was born on March 5, 1930 to the late Oswald and Jean (nee LaVine) Aul in Racine, WI. He was formerly married to Beverly J. Londre on July 10, 1954. Together they had seven lovely daughters. Geno proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as an ambulance driver and a trained medic. He retired from Massey-Ferguson as maintenance worker and painter.
Geno attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of VFW Post 1391. He was a very kind and generous man and volunteered his time to work with the elderly. Geno raised Homing pigeons, and was a member of the Pigeon Club. He was a social butterfly, and would often begin conversations with someone new by inquiring “Where do you work?” followed by “You’re lucky to have a job.”, as jobs could be difficult to find. Geno could often be found hanging out at area McDonald’s. He loved to tell stories with his best friend of many years, Tony/Tonch. Geno was an avid artist and enjoyed painting, drawing, wood carving and creating murals. He was known to freely share his art with others. Geno loved to dance, whether it be gliding across the dance floor, doing the jitterbug or square dancing on parade floats. He enjoyed having independence, and recently had a knee replacement in hopes of being able to drive his “baby” (a Ford pick-up truck) again.
Left to cherish Geno’s memory are his girlfriend of 31 years and love of his life, Kathleen Lotz; his daughters, “The Aul Girls”: Victoria (Rick) Worden, Robin Gensler, Susan Aul-Warner, Connie (John) Wisinski, Marilyn Brothen and her fiancé, (Daryl Jaquith), Melody (Keith) Epple and Gina (John) Conner; grandchildren: Renee, Shannon, Jamie, Carissa (Micah), Jessica (Nick), Jack, Candice (Adam), Stevie (Leesa), Elise, Eric, Emily, Brittney, Haley, Faith, Ty and J.J.; great grandchildren: Colby, Jacob, Adam, Cameron, Lucy, Mason, Avary, Tiana, Blake, Gaige, Parker, Harper, Paisley, Aaliyah, Avery, Ainsley, Taylor, Jackson and Kyler; his half siblings: Sharon Barela, Tom Aul ,and Terry Aul; best friends: Tonch and Sharon Widmar, and other relatives and friends. Geno was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Aul; his son-in-law, Paul E. Brothen, and his former wife, Beverly Funk.
A time of visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A service celebrating Geno’s life will be held following the visitation with Colleen Vice officiating. Interment will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.
