Ethel Arndt's Obituary
Ethel “Sis” Arndt, age 86, passed away on March 24, 2018 at Willow Crest Care Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Ethel was born on February 25, 1932, in Minnesota to Frank and Helen (nee Hammond) Pearson. She was united in marriage to Jim Arndt on December 17, 1960, in Waukegan, IL. Ethel worked at J.I. Case for 30 years as a packer, receiver, and supervisor, retiring in 1991.
Ethel was an advocate for women’s rights. She was involved in the union for many years. Ethel was the editor of the UAW Local 180 newspaper, one of her greatest passions. She loved her yard and was always moving and trimming the trees. Ethel also loved to cook. She was very artistic, had a beautiful singing voice, and she loved her grandchildren dearly. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Left to cherish Ethel’s memory are her daughters: Teresa (Gary) Ebben and Patti (Rick) Freymuth; grandchildren: Jason Scott, Rachel Fisher, Angela Royce, James Arndt, Tyler Ebben, Jessica Neidinger, and Eric Freymuth; brothers: Donald (Lori) Ewing, John (Joanne) Pearson, and Ray (Donna) Pearson; brother-in-law, Ted Wisnieski; sister-in-law, Sharil Gunter; best friend, Julie Esser; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Arndt; daughter, Debra L. Scott; sister, Barbra Wisnieski; brother, Frank Pearson; as well as her parents, Frank and Helen Pearson.
A celebration of Ethel’s life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave., Racine, WI). A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 31 from 5 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be donated to The Meals on Wheels of Racine (5820 Lincoln Village Dr, Racine, WI 53406) or Milwaukee PBS (1036 N 8th St, Milwaukee, WI 53233).
