Elizabeth Elbeck's Obituary
Racine - Elizabeth G. Elbeck, 82, passed away at the Becker Shoop Center on Sunday, December 27, 2009.
Elizabeth Elbeck was born in Racine to the late Reginald and Elizabeth A. (nee: Reid) Elbeck and lived in Racine all her life. She graduated from Horlick High School in 1945. She graduated from Racine-Kenosha County Teachers College in 1947 and started her teaching career at a rural school in Kenosha County and later was employed at the Sturtevant State Graded School.
Betty achieved a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was employed by the Racine Unified School District at Fratt Elementary School from 1954 until her retirement in 1988.
Betty was very talented in art and enjoyed painting, ceramics and other crafts. She also was very accomplished in sewing, embroidery, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She created many beautiful things that are treasured by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her niece, Nanci Bolton of San Diego, California; her great niece, Caryn (Lynn) Rodeffer of Delaware, Ohio; and her great great niece, Zoey Rodeffer. She is also survived by an extended family of friends including June Wellner, Kathryn (Jon) Wellner Radabaugh, Henry Wellner, James Cook and Helen Daft all of Racine, Rachel and Michelle Radabaugh of Des Moines, Washington, and Alice Hembel of Jackson, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane (Clifford) Bolton of Racine.
Betty will be cremated and inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Alliance.
We want to express our great appreciation to Nan Lentz, Julie Minikowski, and the staff at New Beginnings Group Home- Hawthorne House for their loving care during Betty's last years. We are also grateful for the excellent care provided by the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital - All Saints, Becker Shoop Center, and Hospice Alliance
