Eleanor Doris Ahrndt's Obituary
Racine – Eleanor D. Ahrndt (nee: Lindquist), 93, passed away at the Elizabeth Residence on Sunday, November 13, 2011.
Eleanor was born in Racine on September 22, 1918 to John and Anna (nee: Rieke) Lindquist. She was married to Howard Ahrndt on November 14, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Racine.
Eleanor graduated from Washington Park High School. She was employed by Massey Harris as a Secretary where she met her husband "Howie". Howie and Eleanor owned and operated Ahrndt Insurance Agency where she worked until their retirement in 1983. After Eleanor and Howie retired, they traveled extensively in their motor home to Alaska, Mexico and the southern United States. They were also members together of the Fifth Street Yacht Club.
Eleanor was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and in previous years was active in the Ladies Aide and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She enjoyed being a member of the sewing club and the Dusty Roadrunners Camping Club and also enjoyed playing cards especially Madam Peck. She was a kind, sweet lady who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Diane (Richard) Apel, Joanne (Sylvester) Pacholski and Gary (Lynette) Ahrndt; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Amanda), Shannon and Ryan Ahrndt and Luke Pacholski; great grandchildren, Riley and Emmalyn Ahrndt; her sister, Loretta (Herman) Pooch; and by many nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard on September 23, 2003; her parents, John and Anna; and her brothers Kenneth (Harriet) and Wayne (Beverly) Lindquist and Howard's sisters and brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4649 Lora Street, on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 9:30 am with Pastor Neil Carlsen officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday evening, November 17, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm and on Friday morning at the church from 9 am until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice Alliance.
