Elaine L. Gustin's Obituary
Elaine Gustin passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 13, 2016. Elaine was a lifetime resident of the Racine area.
Elaine was born May 6, 1924, the daughter of Laura and Roy Andress, and was the second oldest of seven daughters.
Elaine was a strong Christian. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Elaine was a Sunday school teacher for many years and held several offices of the church. She was instrumental in starting the first ladies mission group BYKOTA (Be Ye Kind to One Another).
Elaine graduated from Park High School. Over the years she worked at Rainfair Manufacturing, Franksville Kraut Company, and Fohr’s Catering. Elaine was a member of the Tucker School Mothers’ Club. She enjoyed knitting and doing craft projects with her husband. Elaine was the most happy when surrounded by family and friends in her home, and she loved big family get-togethers!
Elaine was married on September 7, 1946 to the love of her life, Lyle Gustin, at Gospel Tabernacle Church (now Calvary Memorial). Elaine and Lyle enjoyed traveling together especially to Aruba and winters in Texas.
Elaine is survived by two sons, James (Jean) of Dallas, Texas and Robert (Nancy) of Sebring, Florida; daughter-in-law Kathy (Mike) Murphy, formally married to her late son Roger Gustin; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Emeline Andress, Jean (Tom) Anderson, Deloris Dahl, and Nancy Huggins; and many other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lyle (October 2013); son, Roger (February 1994); sisters: Donna and Luetta; her parents; and her great-great-grandchild, Mia Elaine.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Sturtevant (9122 Durand Avenue) on July 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM. A time of visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 AM. A short graveside service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
