Edward Uminski's Obituary
Mr. Uminski, 94, passed away with his family at his side at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints on Sunday, January 25, 2009. He was born in Racine, on June 30, 1914 to the late Theodore and Stella (nee: Wroblewski) Uminski. He lived all of his life in Racine. He was united in marriage to the former Stella Piotrak on June 25, 1938, in Racine. She preceded him in death on March 24, 1958. He was then united in marriage to the former Lorraine Crozier on June 1, 1968, in Racine and she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2003. He was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School, Class of 1932.
He was employed at Massey Ferguson from 1936-1975, retiring after 39 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church (until closure), St. Stanislaus trustee, usher, member of the Holy Name Society, and then became a member at St. Richard's Catholic Church, Massey Ferguson 20 year Club and bowling league.
Edward was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved the family vacations up north in the summer and fall and being together celebrating birthdays and holidays.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Gail (Carl) Rosenquist of Racine, son-in-law; Joe Orth and his wife, Jan; grandchildren; Dawn Stellmach of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Anne Carter of Mocksville, NC, Aimee (Chris) Sackman, Franksville, Christine (Bryan) Schultz, White Fish Bay, Bradley Rosenquist, Milwaukee; great-grandchildren; Chelsea Stellmach, Jake Carter, Madelyn Schultz, Jonathan and Lauren Sackman; sister; Eleanor White, Step-daughter, Marilee (Ken) Dunham and her family. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Marilyn Scheppe on April 11, 1992, Elaine Orth on August 26, 1999 and brother Bernard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held St. Richard Chichester Catholic Church, Vogel Hall, 15th and Grand Ave, on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Bruno Slodowski officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathorp Ave, on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 5-6:30 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Uminski to One's Favorite Charity have been suggested.
The family would like to thank Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and the nursing staff of 3-D for their compassionate and loving care given to Edward and his family.
