Dorothy Lois Grapentine's Obituary
Racine – Dorothy Lois (nee: Weck) Grapentine, 96, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 20, 2017.
Dorothy was born in Racine, WI on September 5, 1920 to Sylvester and Tena (nee: DeFreez) Weck. She was united in marriage to Clarence Grapentine on June 22, 1940.
She worked several years as a cook for Racine Unified. Clarence and Dorothy owned and operated the C&D Frost-Top Drive In located at West and Blake Streets from 1955-1961. During her retirement, Dorothy and her husband loved to travel and spent their winters in Florida. She loved her family dearly and she will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Sandra (Roger) Gravunder of Racine, Gary (Nancy) Grapentine of Arbor Vitae, and Sheri (Jeffrey) Lloyd of Mount Pleasant; 16 grandchildren, Greg (Rachel) Gravunder, Jackie (Jeff) Baugrud, John (Joy) Gravunder, Joe (Arianne) Gravunder, Mike, Jeff, and Scott Grapentine, Tammy (Dan) Stevenson, Delaney Nelson, Jason Lloyd, Sarah Lloyd, and Megan (Jason) Konicek; 13 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Kara, Morgan, Brenden, Jacob, Ayden, Joshua, Allison, Evan, Healey, Alex, and Camrynn. Dorothy is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Grapentine; her parents Sylvester and Tena Weck; her brother, Sylvester Weck Jr.; and her daughter, Shawn Nelson.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11:30 AM until the time of service at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave). Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:30 PM with Pastor George Kafer officiating. Memorials can be made out to Christ Church United Methodist.
