Doris Kirk's Obituary
Racine - Mrs. Doris A. Kirk (nee: Nielsen), 87 passed away at her home on Monday, July 28, 2008.
Doris was born in Racine to Adolph and Anna (nee: Simmonsen) Nielsen on March 19, 1921. She lived all her life in Racine. On June 28, 1940 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Alvin L. Kirk.
Doris was an avid gardener and loved collecting cookbooks and dolls. Family was her number one priority which included large family gatherings and up north vacations. Her door was always open to family and friends. An extension of that family love was the nurturing devotion she gave to her grandchildren and the children of family friends.
Doris is survived by three sons, Dale Kirk of Sturtevant, Steve (Cindy) Kirk of Sturtevant, and David (Jolene) Kirk of Burlington; three daughters, Kathi Kirk of Kenosha, Nancy (Joe) Kimmell of Rushville, Indiana, and Barbara Kirk of Racine; 12 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; her brother, Robert (Bev) Nielsen of Margartan, North Carolina; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her son, Tom; her daughter-in-law, Tammy; her brothers Russell and Clarence; and her sisters, Alice Bayuk and Hazel Paddock.
A Memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 3 pm with Rev. Michael Zolnosky officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 1 pm until the time of service.
