Donald Royce Rick's Obituary
Donald Royce Rick, age 79, passed away on December 27, 2016 at St. Monica’s Senior Living.
Don was born in Marinette, WI on January 15, 1937 to Fred and Charlotte (nee Arsneau) Rick. He moved to Racine when he was five years old. He worked as a machinist at J.I. Case from 1965 until his retirement in 1992.
Don loved watching all sports, especially baseball. In his youth, he played league baseball at Douglas Park. His knowledge of baseball player statistics was extremely impressive. Don liked to follow the 49ers during football season. He was a very good bowler, card player and enjoyed cribbage and BINGO. Don was fond of watching old movies.
Don had a cat for many years. He enjoyed animals and watching the birds from his porch swing. Although Don was known to be a quiet guy, he had quite a funny bone and made those around him laugh.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Martle J. (Rick) Niesen of Mt. Pleasant; his nephews: David A. Niesen of Mt. Pleasant, Thomas W. Niesen of Phoenix, AZ, Kenneth J. Niesen of Kenosha, and Barry J. Niesen of Racine; and his niece, Diane C. Dyhan of Lake Wylie, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Charlotte Rick; his brother, Frederick "Dean" Rick; and brother-in-law: Robert H. Niesen.
Don was buried at West Lawn Cemetery with a private family ceremony. Memorials may be sent to St. Monica’s Senior Living, 3920 N. Green Bay Road, Racine, WI 53404 in care of “Car Fund” to assist with transporting our elder seniors.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate nurses, staff and volunteers that cared for Donald at St. Monica’s Senior Living.
