Donald Lewis Morgan's Obituary
Mount Pleasant- Donald Lewis Morgan, age 90, was called Home to his Lord and Savior in the early morning of June 5, 2017 at his residence.
Don was born on April 11, 1927 to Beulah (nee Lewis) and Harold Morgan of Pinnebog, MI. He joined the United States Navy after high school at the end of WWII and was assigned to the USS Comet, a troop transport ship. He was united in marriage to Barbara Campbell, the love of his life, Oct. 6, 1951 in Pinnebog, MI. The couple moved to San Diego, CA, as Don reenlisted in the Navy for the Korean War, serving on the USS Duncan. The couple returned to Michigan following Don’s honorable discharge, where he worked as a carpenter. In 1961, the couple moved to Racine for a wonderful business opportunity purchasing the local Tupperware Distributorship “North Star Sales”, retiring in 1994.
Don was an active member of Racine Bible Church for 56 years. He helped to build the wonderful wooden cross in the sanctuary and created the mailboxes for members of the church. He was a kind, gentle, deeply spiritual man who loved everyone he had the pleasure to know. Time with family and friends was very important to Don, always game for a next adventure or family dinner, yet content to spend quiet times with his beloved life partner, Barbara. The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary in October 2016 and another milestone at an April 1, 2017 90th birthday celebration with family.
Left to treasure his legacy are his wife, Barbara; daughters: Marla (Norman) Caulkins of Ceres, CA and Marilyn (Michael) Peterson of Racine, WI; grandchildren: Justin Jensen, Mathew Jensen, Timothy Caulkins, Kristina Caulkins, Daniel Caulkins; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen (Ned) Hilbourn of Bad Axe, MI; special friend, Mamie Louis; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law Dorothy and Norman Leitch, and brother and sister in law Lowell and Ruth Morgan, and granddaughter Amanda Caulkins.
A time of visitation for Don will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Avenue, Racine, WI) and on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Racine Bible Church (12505 Spring St., Sturtevant, WI). Funeral Services for Don will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Racine Bible Church. Interment with full military honors will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
