Donald Joseph Geoghan's Obituary
Racine- Donald J. Geoghan, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 20, 2013 after battling Alzheimer's disease for 8 years.
Donald was born in Waukegan, IL on November 10, 1924 to the late Jess and Rose Geoghan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he served as an airplane mechanic. Donald had been employed as a U.S. Postal Worker for over 27 years until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn (nee: Manthy) on April 29, 2000 at Racine Assembly of God.
Donald was very involved in the church and community. He served in Mission Arlington, volunteered for Feed the Hungry, the food pantry, and drove the van for church events. He also volunteered as a clown and performed in nursing homes and in inner city ministry. He was also very active and enjoyed gardening, photography, and riding his bicycle.
Donald will be dearly missed by his wife, Marilyn; children, Don Geoghan, Mary Nielsen, Joe Geoghan, Mike Geoghan, Monica Pearson, Steve Geoghan, Kathleen Garcia, Teresa Saucedo, and Rose Keibl; five step-children; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild; as well as his dogs, Snickers and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Emma Holbus.
Funeral services in honor of Donald will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Nettles officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00pm until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to his loving wife.
