Donald Louis Buhler's Obituary
RACINE - Donald L. Buhler, 86, died at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 with his family by his side.
He was born in Racine to the late Walter and Irene Buhler on July 31, 1928. Donald was united in marriage to Viola Jensen on September 15, 1956 at Bethany Lutheran Church.
Donald retired as the President of Marigold Dairy Hawthorn Mellody Milks. From the dairy, he went on to purchase and become the owner of the Wausau Homes franchise, also known as Buhler Builders Inc. During his building years, Don liked to invest in land and would became a developer. Don has always had a passion for sales. In the later part of his life, he continued and enjoyed selling for Vern’s Cheese. Don has always been an entrepreneur like his father, Walter.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing at his cabin up north. He would always enjoy spending time in his barn and was “born to tinker”, and like to make things.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Viola; his children, Michael (Andrea) Buhler, Steven Buhler, Kathleen (Paul) Pedersen; grandchildren, Mark (Krystal) Buhler, Eric, Forrest, and Alexandra; his sister, Margery Sweet; his brother, Robert Buhler; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Donald will be interred at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with a private committal service. Memorials directed to the family have been suggested. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at both the VA Nursing Home 2E and at Burlington Memorial Hospital, ICU for the compassionate care shown to Donald.
