Donald Anderson's Obituary
Racine- Mr. Donald B. Anderson, 84, passed away on January 20, 2011 at Linden Grove Nursing Home in New Berlin.
Donald was born in Racine to the late Andrew and Mary (nee: Weiss) Anderson on July 2, 1926. On August 7, 1948 he was united in marriage to Louise Anderson who preceded him in death in 2003.
Donald served his country in the Navy during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippians and Okinawa. After the War, he was employed as a mechanic. Donald was best known for being a handyman who always had the right tool to complete any task. He was a proud member of the Navy Seabees and Boy Scouts. Always warm, friendly, and social, Donald loved his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. At times he could also be known for his story telling, especially those about his childhood and his days in the service.
He is survived by his children, Larry (Carol) Anderson, Barb (Bob) Anderson; and David Anderson; five grandchildren, Carrie (Dean), Steve, Kai (Luann), Rachael (Erica), and Kristy (Ken); eight great-grandchildren, and his niece, Carol (Emil) Panyk. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Louise, and two brothers, Bill Anderson and Bob Anderson.
Memorial services for Donald will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 3:00pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 1:00pm until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring Street, Union Grove) on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 9:00am.
Memorials in honor of Donald may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
