RACINE—Dolores Jane Laake (nee: Horrig), 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at WFH - All Saints in Racine.
Dolores was born on October 22, 1924 to Edward and Nellie (nee: Lyons) Horrig in Phillips, WI. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Economics. Dolores worked for many years as a research specialist at the University of Chicago and the US Department of Labor.
Dolores was a member at St. Paul the Apostle for 46 years. She was an avid bridge player and golfer. Dolores enjoyed live theatre and music performances. She loved going out to eat and visiting with her family and friends.
Dolores will be dearly missed by her children, Judy (Alan) Eberius, Keith (Sharon) Laake, Kent Laake, and daughter-in-law, Linda Laake; her grandchildren, Adam (Shana), Sarah (Bryan), Kevin (fiancée Rachel), Monica (Joe), Alex (Cora), Ellie, and Megan; 6 great-grandchildren; her nephew, Tom Schultz; and her niece, Mary (Randy) Farah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nellie; longtime companion, Peter Tillema; son, Kirk Laake; brother, Robert Horrig; and sister, Jeannette Reed.
A Funeral Mass for Dolores will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Terry Huebner officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials in Dolores’ honor may be directed to UW-Parkside Music Department or St. Monica’s Senior Living Activities Department.
