Delores Estelle Pogorzelski's Obituary
Delores Estelle Pogorzelski, age 80, passed away on February 13, 2017 at her residence.
She was born in Racine, WI on July 11, 1936 to Peter and Margaret (nee Hauser) Sansale. She was employed by Western Publishing and then worked at Johnson Wax for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She was united in marriage to David Pogorzelski on August 29, 1960 in Flint, MI.
Delores was a strong animal activist, giving generously to many charities. She also supported St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital with generous donations. Delores was well known in the community and was often seen walking the family dog. She participated in events to raise animal awareness and money for the Racine Humane Society. She was politically active in West Racine and was successful in getting many roads and alleyways resurfaced.
Delores prided herself in taking care of her family and creating a beautiful home. She loved gardening and caring for her many varieties of her beloved roses. Delores was truly a kind and giving woman, and she will be greatly missed by the people whose lives she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, David; son and daughter-in-law, Steven Pogorzelski and Jackie Poplawski; sister, Shirley Tode; nieces: Becky, Roseanne, Ann, Shannon, Deenie, Lani, and Sue; nephews: Tom, Mark, Don, Dan, Joe, and Larry; sisters-in-law, Joan Pogorzelski and Diane (Squire) Ostrander.
Delores was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Pogorzelski; brother, Gordon Sansale; sisters: Elaine (nee Sansale) Erdman and Dorothy (nee Sansale) Fredericksen.
In keeping with Delores’ wishes, private funeral services will be held.
