Daniel "Dan" F. Sharkozy's Obituary
Daniel “Dan” Sharkozy
RACINE—Daniel Sharkozy, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 26, 2014.
Daniel was born on February 11, 1953 to the late Frank and Jane Sharkozy. He attended the University of Wisconsin School for Workers, Marian College, UAW Family Education Center, and Gateway Technical College. He was married to his best friend and the love of his life Peggy Albright on August 5, 1972.
Dan was a former member of St. John Nepomuk Church. He was passionate about the Racine community. He won many awards for his various services to the community including Mr. and Mrs. Solidarity (1986), with his wife Peggy; Voice of Social and Economic Justice; and Labor Person of the Year. He served Racine in many capacities as a member of the Racine United Way Board of Directors, the UAW PAC/CAP Council, the Racine County Economic Development Corporation, the Strategic Planning Commission of RUSD, and as the President of UAW Local 642. Dan was the current County Board member for the 8th District, and had honorably served since 1994.
Though Dan was a busy man, he always made time for his family. Dan’s wife and family were the center of his universe. Every day he commented on how he wanted them all to have a life with a better future and prosperous, paying jobs. He had the biggest heart, and always reminded his family that they were not quitters. Dan enjoyed many trips to Wild Rose with his family and many friends. He was proud to be “Magyar” Hungarian, and was the “Mayor” of the neighborhood.
Dan will be dearly missed by his wife, Peggy; his children, Korah (Bret) Burdo, Danielle “Candy” (Scot) Langdon, Kristine (Marco) Gauthier, and Daniel “Kal” (Kelsey) Sharkozy; grandchildren, Christen (Cory) Sharkozy-Nikolaus, Joseph Fay, Taylor Burdo, Keegan Fay, Charleigh Fay, Caleb and Conor Langdon, Sebastian Gauthier and baby boy Gauthier due in December.
