Kenosha – Clinton A. Anderson, 87, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, December 27, 2012.
Clinton Arthur Anderson was born in Fond du Lac to the late Arthur and Clara (nee: Boe) Anderson on July 13, 1925. He lived in both Racine and Kenosha for most of his life.
Clinton joined the United States Army Air Force in Fort Sheridan, Illinois on October 23, 1943 and served during World War II. He earned the rank of Private First Class. He fought battles in Rome-Arno, Southern France, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was decorated with three overseas bars, European, African and Middle Eastern theater ribbon with one silver battle star and one bronze battle star. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1945.
After the war, Clinton was a quiet and private person and was considered disabled. He suffered a different life due to "Shell Shock" and was not able to recover. Clinton bought a Model –T and liked to tinker with the mechanics of the car. He also enjoyed short visits with his family over a glass of wine.
Clinton is survived by his sisters and brothers, Eleanor Globstad of W. Des Moines, IA, Richard Anderson of Racine, Phillip (Barb) Smith of Fort Mohave, AZ and Joyce White of Racine.
A memorial committal service with full military honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on January 4th, 2013 at 2 PM.
