Carole Mae Eckel's Obituary
Racine – Carole Mae Eckel, passed away peacefully in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on July 16, 2017.
Carole was born in Milwaukee on October 23, 1938 to the late Arthur and Elsie (nee Werch) Haegele. She was united in marriage to Henry C. Eckel on December 22, 1962 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Carole had worked as a schoolteacher for nearly 40 years and retired in 1999. She spent many of her years teaching at St. Sebastian’s Catholic School in Sturtevant WI, then in later years with the Racine Unified School District. Shopping, travel, baking and card clubs were some of her favorite hobbies. She especially enjoyed serving others in many capacities, including volunteering at the Lutheran Thrift Store and ministries at the Racine County Jail.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 54 years, Henry; son, David; daughter, Debbie (David) Groshek.
A celebration of Carole’s life will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5607 Wright Avenue, on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 3:30 pm with Pastor David Sincock officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family before the service of celebration from 1:30 – 3:30 pm at the church. Friends and family are welcome to attend the interment to be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery chapel on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
