Carol May Obernberger's Obituary
Carol May Obernberger (nee: Niesen), 77, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.
Carol was born on June 16, 1939 in Racine, WI to Gilbert and June (nee: Carpenter) Niesen. She was united in marriage to her husband, Wayne Obernberger on April 23, 1960 in Racine, WI.
Carol was a devoted member to St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish for many years. She enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family cabin. Carol absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a love for her dogs. Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Carol will be dearly missed by her children, Beth (Chris) Thode, Steven (Pat) Obernberger, Michael (Joyce) Obernberger, Wayne (Janice) Obernberger; brother, Gilbert (Casey) Niesen; sisters, Loretta Sackman, Frances (Gary) Cullen-Weiss, Deanna (Dennis) Rybarik, Arlene (Dominic) LoPiccolo, Jill (Lynn McMann) Niesen; brother-in-law, David (Bonnie) Obernberger; brother-in-law, Fred (Pat) Obernberger; her grandchildren: Kristi Lichtenwalner, Nicholas (Caitlin) Lichtenwalner, Alex Thode, Megan (Dan) Dudzik, Alex Obernberger, Caitlin and Jeremy Obernberger, Erik, Rachel, and Allison Obernberger; great grandsons: Johnny Merten, Benjamin and Jacob Dudzik; her special friends Bev Sorenson and Ken and Joan Morien, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Obernberger; her parents, Gilbert and June Niesen; father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Jeanette Obernberger; brother-in-law, Thomas Cullen; brother-in-law, Jerry Sackman; brother-in-law, Ronald Obernberger; sister-in-law, Sarah Obernberger; and niece, Susan Obernberger.
Visitation for Carol will take place at Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. A Vigil will follow the visitation on Monday at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (1533 Erie Street) at 10:00 AM with Fr. Steve Varghese officiating. There will also be a visitation at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
