Burton "Burt" Howard Christianson's Obituary
Mount Pleasant - Burton "Burt" Howard Christianson, 87, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Burt was born January 4, 1937, in Viroqua, WI, to Irven and Helen (nee Fortney) Christianson. Burt proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 and continued in the reserves until he was honorably discharged in October 1962. He was a transport driver for the Generals. He was also a notable pitcher for the USAF Baseball Team. After his service, Burt continued to play baseball with many Kenosha baseball leagues and excelled as a boxer with Golden Gloves of America and in Martial Arts.
Burt had a long career with Chrysler, formerly American Motors, retiring in 2001 after 43 years. During his career, he proudly served for 10 years as Steward, 4 years as Assistant Chief Steward and 3 years as Union Board Member. As an avid golfer, Burt could always be found on the links throughout Wisconsin, playing on several division golf leagues. He enjoyed watching golf, baseball and football, being an enthusiastic fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed playing in pool leagues.
Burt is survived by his children: Laurie Ann (Clyde) Swanson, Rhonda Lynn (Gary) Catrine, and Shelley Jean Christianson; grandchildren: Samuel Allen Schlump and Ava Elizabeth Schlump; and his former wife and loving companion, Gayle Christianson. Danny Sarauer also survived him as like a second brother to Burt, as well as Peter Sarauer, both as close confidants; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Irven and Helen Christianson; granddaughter, Melissa Jean Swanson; grandson, Nathan Clyde Swanson; sister, Mary Helen Thompson; and brother, Allen Christianson.
A celebration of Burt’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2024, with visitation at 11:00 AM and a ceremony at 12:30 PM followed by full military honors.
