I was saddened to hear of Bryan's passing. But I was also aware that his last days were passed in a state where he could not participate in life the way he wanted to. He was a great friend and he added so much joy to the lives of all around him.
I can still recall a particular golf outing at a country club where Bryan and I were in the same golf cart. Bryan's golf shoes were giving him a problem that day, so he took them off and played several holes barefoot. As we neared the last hole I suggested that he might want to put his shoes back on before approaching the club house. That way he would avoid the ire of the club's members who might have a problem with his bare feet on their perfectly manicured grass. As was typical of the gentleman side of Bryan, he agreed to my request so as to avoid any embarrassment to me. And, as was also typical of Bryan, he included a 2 minute rant on why his feet shouldn't have to ache just to please some country club snobs! Great memory of a great guy!
I'm going to miss him whenever I tee it up.
