Bonnie Jean Houdek's Obituary
Bonnie Jean (nee Filicetti) Houdek, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born in Racine, WI on May 23, 1945 to Louis and Glenys (nee Lattenville) Filicetti. She was united in marriage to Bert Houdek in Waukegan, IL on March 21, 1965. Bonnie worked in the housekeeping department at what is now Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Hospital. She was also a clerk at Nelson’s Variety Store for 8 years.
Bonnie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She had a passion for crafting, especially stamping and card making. She collected porcelain dolls. Bonnie enjoyed working in her garden and decorating everything in and around the house. She loved the outdoors and was fond of camping. Bonnie loved her family and babysitting her grandchildren. Most of all, Bonnie was noted for her love of westerns and cooking shows.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bert; children: Corene (Keith) Schmidt, Cindy (Brian) Richter, Andrea (Michael) Haney, and Tracy Houdek; grandchildren: Glennys, Charra, Matthew, Eric, Chelsie, Steven, Timothy, and Gavin; a great grandchild, Fenix; a brother, Don (Rose) Filicetti; a sister, Connie Vance, a niece, Teri Noll, and other relatives and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Fred Vance; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Tom Cline; nephew, Randy Vance; and cousin, Joyce Havican.
Funeral services will be held for Bonnie on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (510 Kewaunee St., Racine, WI) with Pastor Jack Gilbert officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Bonnie’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the very caring staff at Aurora St. Luke’s and to the hospital for allowing them to use the Vince Lombardi Healing Garden for Bonnie and Bert’s renewal of their wedding vows after 51 years of marriage.
