Betty Weiss' Obituary
Racine – Betty May Weiss, 89, passed away at Racine Hospice House on October 21, 2013. Betty May was born on August 30, 1924 in St. Paul, MN. to Burt Wilbur Fuller and Mae Viola (nee: Robillard) Fuller. She was raised in Bemidji, MN and worked in the family business, a confectionary and barber shop. Betty May also worked for the Department of the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. She married Rodney Weiss on December 27, 1947 at St. Phillips Church in Bemidji, MN. Betty May enjoyed homemaking and used her many skills to provide a happy home for her family.
She lived an active life and had many interests; Sewing club, UW Extension Service Homemaker Program, She was part of the Ridge Runners Square Dance Club for 25 years. She was also a member of St. Edward's parish Christian Mothers, and a member of the Funeral Honor Guard, Red Hat Society, Racine Seniors, Card Club and "Y" Wives. Betty May had an adventurous spirit and interest in learning. She loved travelling, from hot air balloon rides (twice) to a houseboat trip on the Mississippi River, to visiting ALL 50 states and Canada, the British Isles, Northern Europe and Brazil. She enjoyed music programs of every kind and was a piano player. Rodney and Betty May shared almost 57 years together. Rodney preceded Betty May in death on December 17, 2004. She was further preceded in death by her sister Shirley and both her daughters, Carol and Barbara, her brother and sisters-in-law and several cousins. Betty May is survived by Kathryn Street and her son Brian; son, Kenneth (Marion) Weiss and their children, Maricela (Michael) Castaneda, Antonio (Jennifer) Gutierrez, and Kristina(Gina) Gutierrez and Timothy Gutierrez; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Griffin, Austin Gutierrez, Emilio and Elian Castaneda. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church for Betty May on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 am, with Father Allen Bratkowski celebrating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
