Betty Jane Johnson's Obituary
Glenview-Betty Jane Johnson, age 96, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Glenview, IL.
On March 9, 1921, Betty was born to the late Peter and Clara (nee: Miller) Sorensen in Racine, WI. Betty was united in marriage to Gilbert Harry Johnson in Racine on May 22, 1943. Betty’s husband, Gilbert, passed away on February 1, 1980.
Betty had a passion for gardening and reading. Her family would say she read the daily newspaper faster than anyone they knew. During the years of her marriage, Betty and Gilbert loved to travel around the country. Above all else, Betty loved spending time with her family and she will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory is her son, Eric Johnson; grandson, Benjamin (Katherine) Johnson; great-grandson, Blake Christenson; nieces: Patricia Lucas and Mary Gulbrandson; nephew, F. James Lucas; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A time of visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave, Racine, WI) on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Another time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family recommends any memorials be made out to any charity of your choice in Betty’s name.
