Racine- Mrs. Betty E. (nee: Wolf) Hartig, 79, joined the love of her life in God's Eternal Kingdom on Friday, February 03, 2012 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare- All Saints.
She was born to the late Ted and Hattie (nee: Jensen) Wolf on July 16, 1932. She was united in marriage to Harry William Hartig on January 31, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2006.
She attended Racine County Ag School where her and her sisters were known as the Wolf Pack. Born in Burlington, she moved to Racine and met her love that she picked out of the crowd because of his smile. Betty had been previously employed at Osters, Marigold Dairy, Gordon Machine, and Lars Machine before retiring from Gormac.
She had been a member of Atonement Lutheran Church for about 50 years where she was an Atonement Grandma, volunteering at the nursery school until her health declined. She also enjoyed flea markets and road trips with her husband.
Betty will be dearly missed by her children, Craig Hartig (Donna) of Colorado, Kent Hartig of Racine and Jodi (Casimir) Mandli of Racine; six grandchildren, Shane and Danielle Hartig of Colorado, Lisa (John) Joyce and Sarah Hartig of Las Vegas, Travis Mandli (Lena) of Racine, and Cameron Mandli (Nicole) of West Allis; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kaelyn Joyce of Las Vegas; sister, Ruthie Kreilkamp sister-in-law, Eunice Hecht; and brothers-in-law, Dick Robers and Cliff Skovsted; her beloved dog, Jojo; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hartig; parents Ted and Hattie Wolf, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louis and Annetta Hartig; brother, Irv (Carol) Wolf; sisters, Marianne (Don) Jante, Hilde Robers; brothers-in-law, Bob Kreilkamp, Rodger Frost, Louis (Gertrude) Hartig, Clifford (Ann) Hartig, Roy (Emily) Hartig, and Raymond Hecht; sisters-in-law, Dolores (Milton) Mogren, Irma (Louis) Anderson, June (Tony) Kraemer, and Dorothy Skovsted.
Funeral services in honor of Betty will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at7:00pm with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family on at the church on Thursday from 5:00pm until the time of service. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors Arnie and Marion Martinsen, and good friend Donna Hanson for helping Mom since Dad's been gone.
