Bethel Holme's Obituary
Sun Prairie - Mrs. Bethel C. Holme, 92, passed away at the Sterling House in Sun Prairie on July 3, 2009.
Bethel (nee: Skow) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Albert and Maud (nee: Ortell) Skow on October 27, 1916. She lived in Racine for most of her life until she moved to Middleton to be with her family in 2000. In Racine, she was united in marriage to John Holme on July 1, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1970.
Mrs. Holme graduated from Horlick High School in 1934. Mrs. Holme attended both Christ Church United Methodist and First Evangelical United Methodist. She also was an active member in aquatic exercises at the YWCA which she greatly enjoyed sharing with her friends. She was employed by J.I. Case Company for 14 years before her retirement in 1955. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher also enjoyed quilting and needlepoint.
Bethel will be dearly missed by her son, Ronald (Susan) Holme of Middleton; four grandchildren, Cora, Sara, Timothy, and Andrew; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat (Jerry) Beere; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Albert Skow.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on July 8, 2009 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 am until the time of service. Memorials may be directed in Bethel's name to Hospice Care Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, Wisconsin 53711.
