Alvin Kirk's Obituary
Mr. Kirk, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 at Memorial Hospital Burlington, WI. He was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 1, 1918, the son of the late Jens P. and Marie (nee: Laursen) Kirk. He lived all of his life in Racine.
He was united in marriage to the former Doris Nielsen in Racine on June 28,1940. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Washington and Grove Mobil Station for many years until 1969. He then worked at Acme Die Casting for 28 years retiring in 1998.
He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, past-president of West Racine Business Man's Association, founder and president of Racine Quarter Midget Club and an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Kirk, three sons, Dale Kirk of Racine, Steve (Cindy) Kirk of Sturtevant, David (Jolene) Kirk of Burlington, three daughters, Kathi Kirk of Kenosha, Nancy (Joe) Kimmell of Rushville, IN, Barbara Kirk of Racine, twelve grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one sister, Elaine Andersen, nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and many friends here and in Denmark. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Paul Kirk on Feb. 23, 2002 and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Kirk on Feb. 28, 2005.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
