Allen Frederick Hillman's Obituary
Sturtevant- Allen F. Hillman, 92, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare- All Saints.
Allen was born in Burlington on May 1, 1920 to the late Frederick and Elsie (nee:Schultz) Hillman. He was united in marriage on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1942 to Alice M. (nee: Erickson). She preceded him in death on May 2, 2003.
He had proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Allen had also been a machine repairman for Twin Disc for a number of years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, American Legion Post #552 in Somers, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #437 in Racine. He had been a former member of The Elk Lodge #252 in Racine and had served one term as a village trustee for Sturtevant. He especially loved fishing and working in his garden.
Al will be dearly missed by his eight children, Allen Jr. (Susan) of Clermont Fla., Gary (Diane) of Racine, Bruce (Betty) of North Fond du Lac, Brian (Beverly) of Mukwonago, Sue (Dick Balke) Held of Friendship, Randy of Minnesota, Dr, Cheryl (Sam Wilson) Hillman of Simi Valley, Calf., and Amelia Sorensen of South Beloit, Ill. ; 26 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger (Debbie) Erickson of Gray, GA; sister-in-law, Barbara (George) Albright of Sun Prairie; special friend, Joyce Schmitt; dear neighbors, Jane and Darren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steve Held; two sisters, Ruth Otte and Helen Bean as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John (Rose) Erickson.
Funeral services in honor of Al will be held at Faith Lutheran Church (8500 Durand Ave.) on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:30am with Rev. Jeffery Mortensen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm and at the church on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of service.
