Alice Edna Hansen 's Obituary
Racine – Mrs. Alice Edna Hansen (nee: Jahn), 92, passed away on May 5, 2014 at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
Alice was born in Racine to the late William and Caroline (nee: Jankowsky) on March 1, 1922. She lived in Racine all her life. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Hansen on February 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1978.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Chruch. Over the past 35 years she was very proud of her independence and even though she had some difficulties, she made sure her family was well loved, supported and cared for. She learned computer skills and was able to manage her life. She also enjoyed traveling.
Most importantly, she had such a disciplined personality; she provided family structure in her values, beliefs and faith. She was the rock of her family.
Alice is survived by one son, John Hansen and her daughter-in-law, Maria Varga-Hansen; grandchildren, Craig Getman, Paul Getman and Heather Hansen; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Judy and Alan Neisen, Richard LaPointe and Donna Betko; other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharron; her husband, Ron Getman; and her grandson, Dan Getman.
Funeral services will be private for the family. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Alice may be made to United Cerebral Palsy Fund or to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa Street.
