Alene Norah Bidwell's Obituary
Alene Norah Bidwell, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Alene was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Phyllis Smith.
Alene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a passion for gardening and preserving the harvest through canning, always sharing the fruits of her labor with loved ones. Cooking and caring for her family brought her immense happiness, and her kitchen was often filled with laughter and the aroma of home-cooked meals.
Mornings were Alene’s special time to enjoy coffee and a donut, often accompanied by a hearty laugh at goofy animal videos. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, never missing a game, and spent her evenings watching her favorite TV shows.
Alene is survived by her children, James (Ana) Smith, Jeanette Mainville, and Don Bidwell; her cherished grandchildren, Jay and Jonathan Mainville, Katie (Avery) Marsh, Emily Smith, Kylie Mervyn, Logan and Michael Bidwell; and her great-grandchildren, Laelia, Lexi, Elena, Victoria Marsh, and Lucas Giorlando. Alene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Duane Bidwell, her son, Dan Bidwell, and her parents, Raymond and Phyllis Smith.
A visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 12, 2025, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital for their compassionate care and dedication to ensuring Alene’s comfort during her final days.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
Alene’s love, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
