Ada Mae Sattler's Obituary
RACINE- Ada Mae (nee Wagner) Sattler, age 90, passed away on March 12, 2018 at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, Wisconsin.
On November 17, 1927, Ada was born to Carl and Evelyn (nee Jenkins) Wagner in Racine. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed by Pastor John Meck on May 11, 1941. Ada attended Knapp and Mitchell School and graduated from Park High School. She energetically shouted out the school song throughout her life. Ada was united in marriage to George H. Sattler, Jr. on October 8, 1949, at Atonement Lutheran Church. She was employed at Webster Electric and also Piggly Wiggly, where she worked for 32 years. She also energetically told everyone to, “Shop the Pig.”
Ada loved her coworkers, friends, and neighbors. She belonged to the Harmony Club of Racine and the Senior Friendship Center at Living Faith Lutheran Church. Ada loved to entertain and was said to be a “Firecracker of Celebrations.”
Ada enjoyed camping. In the early years, camping was with the Bill Dargin family. In 1978, Rock River Leisure Estates was her home away from home. There, camping continued, but it was more like a condo in the woods. She enjoyed pontooning on her “love boat” in Lake Koshkonong.
Left to cherish Ada’s memory are her children: Pamela (Kevin) Ehnert of Sturtevant, Bonnie (Timothy) Ebben and David (Rebecca) Sattler both of Racine; son-in-law, Ken Hilgers of Sturtevant; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren plus baby Sattler due in April; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Ada was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; daughter, Peggy Hilgers; and brother, Norman Wagner.
