Hazel Irene Johnson
RACINE – Hazel Irene Johnson passed away at Racine Hospice House on Thursday, October 10, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Hazel was born to the late Lyle Buege and Alice Leone (nee: Derozier) Buege on February 6, 1950. She graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1968. Hazel was united in marriage to Allen Alvin Johnson on August 15, 1970 and was a lifelong resident of Racine.
Hazel worked as an Office Administrator/Group Mom/Problem Solver for Racine Emergency Physicians until the time of her passing. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. Hazel was an incredible person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed painting, gardening, her crafts, Boyd's Bears and her dogs.
Hazel will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a caring, loving, selfless wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Hazel is survived by her husband, Allen and four children: Michael (Kathy) Johnson, Christian (Brenda) Johnson, Carla (Eric) Bergemann, and Erik (Vanessa) Johnson. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Connor, Madisen, Randallen, Paige, Rylie, Teagan, Maxwell, and granddaughter-to-be Josephine. Hazel is further survived by her brothers, Robert (Kathy) Buege, Richard Buege, her sister, Mary Pederson and her sister-in-law, Rosemary DuBois. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Frankie and Johnnie and many other friends and relatives.
Hazel was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Rose Johnson on August 26, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Randall Poppe will be officiating. Relatives and friends can meet with the family during visitation from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. service time. Per Mrs. Johnson's wishes, she will be cremated.
