Cantu ,'s Obituary
Racine- Genaro F. Cantu Sr., 78, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare- All Saints.
Genaro was born in San Antonio, Tex. on September 24, 1934 to the late Vincente and Maria (nee: Flores) Cantu. In May of 1962, he was united in marriage to Frances (nee: Delazerda) Cantu.
Genaro proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. After the war, he was employed as an iron worker until his retirement.
Genaro loved his family and was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and loved all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was a savvy businessman, and a kind person who was loved by everyone. He also loved playing Texas Holdem Poker with his grandsons, was an excellent storyteller, and loved going to 7 Mile Fair. He was also a true Packer fan.
Genaro will be dearly missed by his wife, Frances; children, Janie (Tony) Flores of Somerset, Tex., Anita D. Herrera of San Antinio, Tex., Jesse D. Herrera of Somerset, Tex., Genaro D. (Dora) Cantu Jr. and Tracy M. (Hector) Hernandez, both of Racine; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, his brother, Eugene (Anita) Cantu; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernesto Cantu; sister, Katherine Martinez, special nephew, Tony Cantu; uncle, Marcelino Martinez, and aunt, Beatrice.
A mass of Christian Burial in honor of Genaro will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Cristo Rey Parish (800 Wisconsin Ave.) at 11:00am. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16. 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. Interment will full military honors will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.
