I was a member of First Free when it was a cinder brick building on Lathrup Ave. and I was about 7 years old through high school. I owe my introduction to Jesus to the wonderful women and men of that Church Mr. and Mrs. Took, Mrs. Ketchum, Mr. and Mrs. Venstra and others. They gave money so we could attend Church camp in the summer. Opened their homes so we could meet and sing songs like "This Little Light of Mine". Ran Vacation Bible School in the summers. I sang in the choir, and was in Christmas pageants. I memorize Bible verses, and learn hymns like "How Great Thou Art", because these people taught Sunday School. I have wonderful memories of my early Christian life, because of this Church and these wonderful people. I know Mr. Took will be missed but he will be in heaven getting the rewards that he so richly deserves in the arms of Jesus. With Love, Deborah (Boggs) Honeyman. Burkesville KY

Mrs. Took and I were neighbors growing up. I remember when she began dating Donald and how happy they were then and even in all of the years of married life. My prayers are with Gloria at this time, but they both had such a strong faith and we know they will be united again in the future. We have that blessed hope as stated in Scripture. I will remember Uncle Don as a kind and gentle man. Although he's now absent from the body, he's present with the Lord Whom he had trusted from a youth. Aunt Gloria, may God comfort you in our blessed hope as believers.

I didn't know Mr. and Mrs. Took real well, however they just always touched my heart. My brother Randy Larsen worked for them for many years taking care of their yard. I worked for Randy a couple of years doing office work and because of that I would hear him speak about Mr. and Mrs. Took and he always would speak of them with much reverence. Some of our church stopped in at Christmas time when we were caroling. It was such a blessing to me to see them and their daughter. You could just see the love that they have for each other. I'm sure those of you who know them better we're truly blessed because just my short meetings I felt blessed.
It is so comforting to know that he is with his Lord and Savior now and no longer in pain. May the Lord bless and comfort the family at this time. I will keep you in my prayers. Love In Christ, Julie & Karl Weyhrauch
