Virginia Janet Czuper

October 3, 1939 - January 24, 2018

Virginia Janet Czuper, 78, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018, at her residence. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, on October 3, 1939, Virginia is the daughter of Evan “Speck” and Nola (nee Hutchison) LeAir. On April 26, 1974, she was united in marriage to Paul P. Czuper in Waukegan, IL. Jan was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Academy formally known as St. Edwards Parish. She was also a “Daughter of the American Revolution”, a member of “The Red Hat Society”, and had a passion for tracing her genealogy, which she amazingly traced her roots all the way back to Ireland. Jan enjoyed traveling with her husband and took countless trips with their grandchildren. Jan was an entertainer of many amazing parties in which she would menu plan and have wonderful gourmet food with countless memories and tons of laughter. She also appreciated an occasional glass of wine on the patio with her dear neighbors, Carol and Nancy. If you were lucky enough to stop by the house in the summertime, she often would tell Paul to start the grill and before you knew it, an extravagant meal that would have appeared to take hours to prepare was eloquently served. Hours of laughter and enjoyment would have passed and left you wondering how time had flown by so quickly. Jan was a strong advocate of the underprivileged and a powerful union member. She would stand up for those who couldn’t or were afraid to do so. She would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time and when it ended you would have thought they were lifelong friends. The list is far too long to mention the lives she touched and the fond memories she created in these short 78 years. Jan would not want to be remembered how she left this world, but how she enjoyed her life while she was here. We will miss you mom and the countless advice you have given us throughout our life. You gave us advice or encouragement whether we needed it or not. She is finally free of pain; may you rest in peace. Someday, we all will be reunited with you. Jan is survived by her beloved husband, Paul; sons: Joel (Dana) LeAir and Paul Czuper Jr.; grandchildren: Ryan, Samuel, Emma and Jack LeAir, Katie and Vincent Czuper, Courtney (Dan) VanderWielen and Caitlin Thielen; great grandchildren: Jaycee and Adella Czuper and Quinn VanderWielen; siblings: Jean (Louie) Grill, June (Jim) Cafemeyer, Jackie (Jim) Johnson, James (Linda) LeAir, Joy (Jack) Brandes, Jerry LeAir and Jimmy (Connie) LeAir; and former daughter-in-law, Christine (LeAir) Gedgaudas. She was preceded in death by her father, Evan “Speck” LeAir; mother, Nola Grace LeAir; and her brother, Evan (Lee) LeAir. A Celebration of Jan’s life will be at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018 beginning with a visitation starting at 4:00 p.m. and ending with a ceremony commencing at 7:15 p.m. Private interment for the family will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to the family have been suggested. We would like to especially thank all the members of Wheaton Franciscan Home Health and Hospice Care who helped over the past months. We are forever grateful to you all. “The world lost the most energetic, positive and stubborn lady of all time, my Nana” – Emma LeAir
